DLA Piper has advised Urbaser S.A. on its acquisition of RenoNorden AB and RenoNorden Oy

DLA Piper represented Urbaser S.A. in relation to their successful acquisition of RenoNorden AB and RenoNorden Oy from the bankruptcy estate of RenoNorden ASA.

Urbaser S.A. is a world leader in environmental management and a global sustainability oriented company serving more than 50 million people in 22 countries through a huge network of more than 40,000 employees and over 160 subsidiary companies.

The RenoNorden group was the leading private waste collection and transportation company in the Nordics until amongst other the parent company RenNorden ASA went bankrupt in September 2017.

Urbaser S.A will as a consequence of the transaction gain a significant share of Nordic waste collection market and a solid platform for further growth.

The transaction was led by our Norwegian corporate team and closely assisted by DLA Piper in Sweden, Danmark and Finland. DLA Piper handled all legal aspects of the transaction, including due diligence, drafting and negotiations with the bankruptcy estate and the banks.

This transaction was particularly complex due to the distressed situation of the RenoNorden Group and the number of parties and interests involved in the transaction.
