Andreas Johnsen

Andreas Johnsen deals primarily with environmental law, construction law and building rights.
Andreas provides assistance to Danish enterprises, institutions and public authorities in environmental and construction matters, including in particular in connection with complaints as well legal and arbitration proceedings.
Andreas has experience in advising a range of players across the construction industry, including builders, municipalities, main contractors and design-build contractors as well as consultants. In his daily work, Andreas has gained profound knowledge of construction-law issues and provided advice spanning from contract conclusion and negotiation to risk management and dispute resolution.
Andreas focuses on creating value for clients through a hands-on and solution-oriented approach, and he often acts as a sounding board in connection with negotiations and contract management. Andreas is also experienced in alternative dispute-resolution methods such as mediation and judicial mediation, both efficient tools to solve disputes without a lengthy legal process.
In addition, Andreas has also been involved in project development within the building and construction sector. This includes assistance in connection with site purchases, financing, construction contracts and cooperation agreements.
- City of Copenhagen: Assists in a pending arbitration case instituted by a contractor, which has raised a claim for more than DKK 10m against the City of Copenhagen primarily concerning extra work and delays. An expert survey has been performed, and the case is expected to go to trial in 2025. (2023 – still pending)
- Eco-Village: Since joining DLA Piper Denmark, Andreas has provided advice in connection with the development and construction of Eco-Village’s co-housing projects (also known as eco-villages) in Denmark, including two co-housing projects in the Municipality of Lejre, a co-housing project in Copenhagen consisting of both owner-occupied and cooperative flats as well as a co-housing project in the town of Roskilde. - LT Gruppen A/S: Acting in a pending lawsuit instituted by a sub-supplier, which has raised a claim for more than DKK 10m against LT Gruppen A/S concerning payment of contract works in connection with the Fehmarn Belt Project. In the lawsuit, LT Gruppen A/S made a number of counterclaims, including recovery claims and claims for damages. The lawsuit is expected to go to trial at the end of 2025. (2023 – still pending)
- Bo-Vita: Provided and continues to provide assistance in a number of arbitration proceedings, where Bo-Vita has made claims for i.a. payment of more than DKK 20m. The proceedings concern recovery claims, defects and delay, etc. (2023 – still pending)
- Arena CPHX P/S: Acted for Arena CPHX P/S, which was in charge of the design work and construction of Royal Arena in Copenhagen, in a major dispute against the HWS contractor. Arena CPHX P/S had raised a claim of more than DKK 8m against the HWS contractor. In 2024, the dispute ended in a settlement. (2023-2024)
- Chubb: Provided and continues to provide assistance to the insurance company Chubb in connection with the processing of a number of environmental liability matters, including the Nordic Waste matter. The matters specifically concern whether the claims notified to Chubb are recoverable. The amounts of the notified claims span DKK 400-500m. (2023 – still pending)
- Lidl Danmark: Provided advice relating to the establishment of new shops in connection with the takeover of existing shops from other players on the market. (2023 – still pending)
